On Tuesday, June 20, the Stanton seniors traveled to Orchard to take on the Tri-County juniors in American Legion baseball action.

Titans' skipper Jeff Shabram said it was a very well-played baseball game on both sides. When the dust settled, the Titans were victorious by a score of 6-4.

Ryan Rifer was the starting pitcher, throwing six innings, allowing three runs and striking out six batters. Wyatt Shabram entered to pitch in relief for the last inning to get the save, allowing one run and striking out two batters.

"Tri-County played a very balanced, team-oriented game, with everyone in the line-up active at the plate and on the bases," Shabram said.

Both teams were scoreless until the bottom of the third when two Titans, Jake Schroeder and Landon Nelson, scored on clutch RBI hits by Rogan Robertson and Connor Thomson.

Stanton would plate one run in the fourth inning while Tri-County was scoreless. In the fifth inning, Landon Nelson and Kaiden Bauer scored on RBI hits by Shabram and Rifer. The sixth inning was exciting with Stanton scoring two runs in their half of the inning. But Tri-County answered right back with two runs of their own from Jase Kotrous and Schroeder on RBI hits by Nelson and Robertson. Stanton would add one more run in the seventh inning before Shabram and the rest of the Titan defense, including A.J. Hobbs, Isaac Pavlik and Riley Saul, shut down a late-game rally.

"Rifer threw a masterful six innings on the mound and even though there are still some defensive kinks to work out by our team, the Titans are really coming together as a solid baseball team," Shabram said. "It was also satisfying to get some clutch hits with runners on base and to see aggressive base running along with some good "pop" from the bottom of our lineup, scoring runs and knocking in RBIs. We hope to carry this solid play into the postseason."
