C/P crushes Titans

SUBMITTED ARTICLE

In a junior legion baseball game that could be called the "Clash of the Titans," played at Orchard Friday, May 26, the Creighton/Plainview Titans defeated the Tri-County Titans, 15-1, in five innings.

Wyatt Shabram started on the mound for Tri-County, throwing four innings, allowing seven runs and striking out five batters.

“Tri-County was just out of sync all night, committing errors at inopportune times on defense, while offensively just hitting the ball right to Creighton/Plainview fielders,” said Coach Jeff Shabram.

Four runs were allowed in the first inning and three runs in the third inning. However, Tri-County showed signs of coming back going 1-2-3 on defense in both the second and fourth innings.

“Then the wheels fell off in the fifth inning when eight C/P runners crossed the plate,” Shabram said. “We were making decent contact at the plate, but the Creighton/Plainview defense was in the right spot at the right time.”

Tri-County's lone run came in the third inning when Jake Schroeder started off with a deep fly ball double followed by stealing third base and then home.

Tri-County is now 1-1 on the season and will hit the road for a busy week of baseball.

The Titans are scheduled to play in O’Neill, Friday, at 7 p.m., and will face Sutton at 5:30 p.m. and Pender at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, at the Pender Juniors Tournament.

One game will then be played Sunday, June 4, at either 10 a.m., noon or 2 p.m.
