Scavenger hunt draws fierce competition

The premise was simple: Locate the 25 spots in or around Ewing, strike the designated pose on the entry form and snap a team photo or record a video.

Oh, and return to the starting point in the fastest time possible.

Four teams stepped up to the plate for the 2023 Funfest scavenger hunt challenge and showed their ingenuity and creativity.

The event was sponsored by the "Summerland Advocate-Messenger."

Several clues were simple, like take a group selfie at a fountain. Yes, the water fountain at Schmidt Park counts. Do your best "Friends" impression and jump in front of the Ewing Public School sign.

Others proved a big more challenging. Locate Herbie Husker and record your best "Go Big Red" chant or make your best scary face with a Halloween wreath.

Top prizewinners were Dave and Joan Wright and Todd and Germaine Bollwitt, of Ewing. They completed the route in one hour and four minutes.

Other teams competing were from Ewing, Creighton, Brunswick, Orchard and Lincoln.
