No Summerland golfers secure spots for state tourney

Team awards • (l-r): Dane Miller and Brandon Pruden recently received post-season honors. Coach Bill Tabbert named Miller and the Bobcat squad's most valuable player. Pruden was named the team's most improved player.

The Bobcat golf team shot 393 in district play, May 16, at Fair Play Golf Course in Norfolk. The score placed Summerland 10th in team competition.

Top JV • Barrett Stearns receives a medal for the most valuable junior varsity golf team member. Coach Bill Tabbert announced the awards following the conclusion of the golf season last week.

Dane Miller set the pace for the Bobcats, shooting 93. Kelton Bruhn finished with 96; Matthew Potter, 101; Dylan Rotherham, 103 and Logan Kester, 112.

Miller tied for 30th.

Pierce won the event, shooting 322, while Ponca took home the runner-up trophy, with 346.

Norfolk Catholic finished third, totaling 350, followed by Cedar Catholic, fourth, 357; Crofton, fifth, 359; West Holt, sixth, 360; Battle Creek, seventh, 365; Tri County Northeast, eighth, 368; and Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, ninth, 386.

Trailing the Bobcats were Wakefield, Homer, Elkhorn Valley, Lutheran High Northeast and Winnebago.
