Middle school engineering team advances to national competition

Atlanta-bound • (l-r): Cassie Livingston, Jaelyn Shaver and Sierra Thomson will represent Summerland and Nebraska SkillsUSA, at the national conference, in June, in Atlanta.

It's official.

Three Summerland SkillsUSA students, who finished second in state competition in the middle school team engineering challenge, will travel to Atlanta, Georgia, to vie for a national award.

Cassie Livingston, Jaelyn Shaver and Sierra Thomson will join Faith King and Julie Olivan at the 2023 SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference, June 19 to 23, in Atlanta.

Advisor Michael Odell made the official announcement Friday.

The group will travel with other Nebraska SkillsUSA members, leaving June 18.

A pep rally and sendoff is currently being planned by the "Summerland Advocate-Messenger." More details will be released soon.
