Upper Elkhorn NRD awards scholarships

Each year, the Upper Elkhorn Natural Resources District awards three scholarships to graduating high school seniors in the district.

"These are students who have chosen to pursue a career in a field related to agriculture, natural resources or the environment," said Beth Walsh, UENRD information and communication coordinator.

This year’s recipients are Kade Youngblood of Chambers High School; Levi Cronk of Summerland High School; Tucker Stagemeyer of O’Neill High School; and, alternate Ashley Pischel of Summerland High School.

Kendra Youngblood and Brian Hubel will be supporting Kade Youngblood as he is planning a career in diesel technology/agriculture while attending Northeast Community College.

Cronk’s parents are Alan and Karen Cronk. He has chosen to pursue a career in agronomy while attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Stagemeyer, the son of Brent and Carla Stagemeyer, is planning a career in ag business and is planning to attend Butler Community College.

Pischel, with the help of her parents Robert and Maureen Pischel, is planning to study agriculture/biosystems engineering at University of Nebraska - Lincoln.

Scholarship winners will receive a scholarship in the amount of $500 to help defer costs during their first year of college.

"The Upper Elkhorn NRD would like to congratulate the 2023 senior scholarship winners and wish them good luck in achieving their future goals," Walsh said.
