Boys, girls finish in runner-up spots at Hartington Invite

The Bobcat track teams added two trophies to the awards case, April 17, after both earned runner-up titles at the Hartington Invite.

In the girls' division, the Lady Cats scored 82.5 points, 19 points behind champion Stanton. Bobcat junior varsity ended 10th, scoring 12.5 points.

Summerland scored 88.33 points in the boys' division while Stanton claimed the title with 111 points.

Girls' division

Hadley Cheatum struck gold in the 200m dash, finishing in 27.37. Aubrey Parker placed ninth, running 31.13. Ella Bolling crossed the finish line in 16th, with a 31.77 mark. Zermeno placed 22nd, running 32.96.

Cheatum returned home with a second gold medal after running 16.48 in the 100m hurdles. Preslie Robertson ran 18.59, earning fifth. Lenora Kester ended seventh, running 19.00.

Cheatum's third gold medal came after winning the 300m hurdles with a time of 47.56. Kester placed third, running 53.41. Lydia Robertson finished eighth, after running 59.22.

Caydence Schumacher and Bailey Ahlers finished first and second, respectively, in high jump. Both cleared 4' 10. Lydia Robertson earned the sixth-place medal, jumping 4' 6. Ashley Pischel placed ninth, clearing 4' 4.

Pischel finished sixth in pole vault after reaching 6' 6.

Ella Bolling jumped 13'11, placing ninth in long jump. Ellie Dougherty reached 12' 5, ending 19th. Ava Rittscher jumped 10' 7, landing 24th and Kenna Brabec jumped 9' 6.5, placing 26th.

Schumacher earned a second gold medal in long jump, with a leap of 32' 1.5. Lydia Robertson finished second after reaching 31' 11. Lenora Kester placed third after reaching 31' 7.5. Reynolds ended 10th, jumping 29' 7. Talya Nilson placed 13th, after hitting 27' 5.

Raina Krebs earned the silver medal in shot put. She threw 35' 3.5. Adyson Mlnarik placed eighth, throwing 30' 5. Kenzie Sanne threw 25' 2, placing 23rd and Emma Petersson threw 21' 11.5 to place 31st. Molly Moore ended in 35th, with a toss of 16' 8.

Krebs led the Bobcat discus throwers, with a toss of 76' 3. She placed 11th. Petersson finished 20th, throwing 68'. Mlnarik ended 22nd, throwing 65' 2. Sanne finished in 32nd place throwing 50' 5.

Parker missed a medal in the 400m, by .02. She finished second, recording a time of 1:09.97.

Jaycee Reynolds finished 14th in the 100m, running 14.91. Preslie Robertson ran 15.11, placing 18th. Yazlin Zermeno ended in 20th, running 15.15. Ava Rittscher finished 30th, running 17.14, while Kenna Brabec placed 31st, running 18.83.

Karlie Dawkins ran 3:07.10 to place 12th in the 800m. Irelyn Bearinger ran 3:18.72 and Shaylie Kester, 3:37.13, to placed 19th and 20th, respectively.

Bearinger finished eighth in the 1600m, running 7:17.45.

Reynolds, Lydia Robertson, Bolling and Schumacher finished fourth in the 4x100. They finished in 57.30.

Parker, Ellie Dougherty, Kester and Dawkins ran 12:39.83, placing fifth in the 4x800.

Boys' division

Three Bobcats placed in the 110m hurdles. Alec Schindler led the field, with 16.88. Michael Koenig ended second, running 17.74 and Sam Cheatum placed fifth, crossing in 20.67.

Schindler earned a second gold medal in the 300m hurdles after he ran 44.12. Parker Napier placed fifth, running 48.29 and Cheatum ended in 11th. He ran 58.91.

The Bobcats finished second, third and fourth in high jump. Ruger Switzer earned silver after clearing 6 feet, while Ryan Rifer jumped 5' 8 to receive the third-place medal. After clearing 5' 6, Carter Bergman ended fourth.

Napier won long jump after landing at 19' 4. Koenig jumped 18' 6, placing sixth. Switzer stuck one jump, reaching 17' 4.5. AJ Hobbs landed in 13th, jumping 16' 8.5.

Schindler picked up another gold in triple jump after he landed at 40' 6.5. Jaykwon Petite reached 37' 7.5 to place fifth. Hobbs ended in 10th, hitting 35' 8.5 and Preston Hoke ended in 11th, jumping 35' 7.

Napier received another medal after finishing sixth in pole vault. He cleared 9' 6. Ethan Kester ended in seventh, at 9' 6.

Two Bobcats received medals in shot put. Gavin Whiting threw 43' 3.5 to bring home the silver medal. Joe Ahlers ended fourth, with a toss of 41' 1.

Levi Cronk ended in 11th, throwing 35' 3. Jason Shaver threw 25' 3.5, which placed 28th. Kevin Lopez reached 21' 6, ending in 30th.

Whiting placed sixth in discus. After three fouls, he three 109'. Cronk threw 95' 7, ending in 13th. Colby Hupp ended 15th, with a toss of 93' 6. Ahlers finished in 19th, with a throw of 86' 10. Lopez placed 31. He threw 53' 7.

Kendrick Schroeder finished ninth in the 100m, running 12.24. Connor Thomson placed 17th crossing the tape in 12.91. Kester ended in 22nd. He ran 13.59.

Schindler was next man out in medal contention in the 200m final. He ended in seventh place, running 25.25. Thomson placed 16th, with a 26.78 mark.

Cheatum shaved half a second off his time in the 400m, running 58.91 en route to a ninth-place finish. Koenig finished 14th, completing the race in 1:00.76. Hupp placed 19th, running 1:10.61.

In the 800m, Bergman ended 11th, with a time of 2:27.14, while Rifer ran 2:30.17, finishing 14th.

Hobbs placed eighth in the 1600m. He ran 5:45.80.

Summerland's 4x400 team, comprised of Cheatum, Hoke, Rifer and Napier, ran 3:57.48, bringing home fifth-place medals.
