Public input critical to comprehensive plan process

Surveys are available for participation

Holt County is currently updating the county comprehensive plan and zoning regulations. As part of the update, the county is requesting residents to fill out a survey either online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/holtcountycompplan or by picking up a hard copy at the courthouse. In recent weeks, Marvin Planning Consultants and the county put out postcards and posters with information on the topic. Postcards and posters have a QR code link and a link to the project website. Residents can scan the QR code on the postcard or poster. Residents' input will help guide future land uses and policies for Holt County in the coming years.

A comprehensive plan is a document for analyzing numerous parts of the county including, but not limited to, land use, transportation, economics, housing, population and facilities. The document contains a community involvement component including the survey currently available online or in hard format. In addition, there will be specific opportunities to meet face to face with the consulting team to discuss specific issues, needs and opportunities.

"The comprehensive plan covers all aspects of growth from land use to economic development, housing, parks and recreation, public safety and more," stated Keith Marvin of Marvin Planning Consultants. "We want to hear from people living and working in Holt County about their vision for the future."

Finally, the new comprehensive plan will be the guide for an updated zoning regulation for Holt County.
