District wrestling competition begins Friday for girls' Bobcat team

The Summerland girls' wrestling team heads into district competition this weekend at Madison High School.

On Friday, competition at the A-2 district meet is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.

Wrestling will start at 10 a.m., Saturday.

Thirty-six schools will participate in the quest for a trip to the state tournament. In addition to Summerland, teams competing include from Bancroft-Rosalie, Battle Creek, Boone Central, Columbus, Creighton, Crofton-Bloomfield, David city, Elgin Public/Pope John, Elkhorn Valley, Homer, Logan View, Lyons-Decatur Northeast, Madison, McCook, Neligh-Oakdale, Niobrara/Verdigre, Norfolk Catholic, North Bend Central, Oakland-Craig, Omaha Central, Omaha Marian, Omaha North, Ord, Papillion-LaVista, Quad County Northeast, Red Cloud/Blue Hill, Scribner-Snyder, St. Mary's, St. Paul, Tri County Northeast, Wakefield, West Point-Beemer, Winside, Wisner-PIlger and Yutan.

State wrestling will take place Thursday, Feb. 16 to Saturday, Feb. 18, at the CHI Health Center Arena, in Omaha.
