Riverside takes charge of Bobcats

Trevor Thomson breaks the grasp of a Riverside defender, Friday, during the second round of Class D1 football playoffs. Thomson rushed for 53 yards in the 30-18 loss.

Summerland struck first, but at the end, Riverside took advantage of Bobcat mistakes en route to a 30-18 win, Friday.

The second-round playoff game was played in Cedar Rapids. Summerland ends 6-4 on the season.

Sam Cheatum nabs a pass from Jaykwon Petite, Friday. Cheatum caught two passes for 34 yards in the Bobcat loss.

Jaykwon Petite completed seven of 15 passes for 94 yards. His preferred targets in the game included Sam Cheatum, who grabbed two passes for 34 yards and Trevor Thomson, who pulled in a 38-yard pass for a touchdown.

Thomson also led the rushing corps, with 16 carries for 53 yards. Kendrick Schroeder ran 11 times for 27 yards, while Petite carried the ball 16 times, picking up 27 yards.

On defense, four players finished in double digits for tackling. Cheatum and Joe Ahlers each ended with a dozeN tackles. Levi Cronk and Thomson each finished with 11 takedowns.
