Defendants bound over to Holt County district court on felony drug charges

 


Two defendants waived their rights to preliminary hearings when they appeared in the Holt County court July 5 on felony allegations. The Honorable Kale Burdick bound their cases over to Holt County district court, where they are set for arraignment Aug. 8.

Varian P. Jackson, 43, of O’Neill is charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) with intent to deliver, a Class 2 felony alleged Jan. 18, in O’Neill. He was booked into the Holt County Jail on Feb. 7, with bond set at $75,000, 10% cash. It was amended to $35,000, 10%, Feb. 8, and finally amended to $5,000, personal recognizance Feb. 11, and he was released. He is represented by Holt County public defender Rodney Smith.

Matthew N. Killmurry, 34, of Atkinson is charged with three counts, alleged April 24 in O’Neill - possession of a controlled substance (meth), a Class 4 felony; second-offense driving during revocation, a Class 2 misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, an infraction. Bond, in the amount of $5,000, 10%, posted April 24, is continued. Killmurry is represented by Smith.

Burdick signed warrants for the arrest of three defendants who failed to appear for scheduled court proceedings.

Jacob R. Owens, 40, of Emmet, failed to appear on three counts alleged May 13, in Emmet, possession of drug paraphernalia, an infraction; expired in transits, a Class 5 misdemeanor; and display of fictitious plates, a Class 3 misdemeanor. The complaint was amended by Kelly on July 6, adding a Class 3 misdemeanor count, failure to appear. Bond is set at $3,000, 10%.

Luis Norberto Castillo Alvarez, 64, of O’Neill failed to appear for arraignment on a Class 2 misdemeanor, theft by shoplifting, 0-$500, alleged at Cubby’s in O’Neill on May 23. Bond is set at $5,000, 10%.

Blake E. McGehee, 56, of Baton Rouge, Lousiana, failed to appear for arraignment on a Class 2 misdemeanor, operating a motor vehicle during time of suspension. Bond is set at $5,000, 10%.
