Second-inning explosion propels Neligh to Junior Legion win

In a rematch of a game played at the league tournament earlier last week, the Neligh Junior Legion baseball team traveled to Orchard, Friday, July 1 to play the Tri-County Titans. Neligh came away with a second victory over the Titans, 3-19.

Coach Jeff Shabram said, "The best way to sum up this game is that Neligh scored 17 runs in the second inning. No baseball team can overcome that kind of misfortune."

Other than that inning Neligh did not score in the first or third innings and a player crossed home plate in the fourth and fifth innings.

"That second inning is just a tough pill to swallow," Shabram said.

Landon McAllister started as pitcher, and William Drobny entered the contest in relief. Wyatt Shabram closed out the game.

Scoring for the Titans were: Dane Miller, two runs and Wyatt Shabram, one run. Drobny had a two-RBI double and Shabram added an RBI single.

Box score...

Neligh 0 17 0 1 1 =19

Tri-County 0 0 0 2 1 = 3
