Colorado couple arraigned in district court on felony drug charges

 


A Colorado couple appeared before the Honorable Mark Johnson in the Antelope County district courtroom in Neligh for arraignment on felony drug charges last week.

Cassandra L. Howell, 28, of Trinidad, charged with possession of methamphetamine, faced Johnson alongside her court-appointed attorney, Martin Klein of Neligh. A plea deal was announced. In return for Howell pleading guilty as charged, Antelope County Attorney Joe Abler agreed to file no further charges in the case, specifically a charge of being an accessary to a felony. In addition, Abler agreed to recommend probation, provided a presentence investigation supports it. If not, he recommends 130 days in the Antelope County Jail.

Howell pleaded guilty. She told the judge the car she was riding in was pulled over for speeding and a pipe was found in her purse with methamphetamine residue. Johnson ordered a presentence investigation and set sentencing for May 25. Bond, posted March 3, in the amount of $10,000, 10% cash, is continued, but with terms modified, to not leaving the states of Nebraska or Colorado.

Co-defendant, Darrion J. Cescolini, 27, of Denver entered not guilty pleas to a Class 2A felony, possession of heroin with intent to deliver, and a Class 4 felony, possession of heroin, both alleged Feb. 12. Pretrial hearing is set June 29, with a jury trial July 18. He is represented by Carney. Bond posted March 29 is continued, in the amount of $20,000, 10%, with amended terms to not leaving the states of Nebraska or Colorado. .

The couple was arrested Feb. 12, after the vehicle they were passengers in was pulled over by Nebraska State Patrol troopers east of Brunswick on Highway 20.

Justin M. Golter, 47, of Orchard appeared for pretrial hearing on charges alleged Aug. 20, 2020 – Count I, possession of methamphetamine, with intent to deliver (two ounces), a Class 1D felony; Count II, possession of meth, a Class 4 felony and counts III and IV, theft by receiving stolen property, $1,500 to $5,000, Class 4 felonies. A defense motion for continuance was granted. Pretrial conference is continued to April 27, with jury trial still scheduled May 16. Bond, posted Oct. 20, 2021, in the amount of $50,000, 10%, is continued. He is represented by Carney.
