Historic water tower to come down

One year after listening to pros and cons of maintaining Ewing’s iconic water tower, village board members approved a bid of $51,400, for demolition of the tower, upon approval from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund, during the trustees’ Jan. 10 meeting at city hall.

Village clerk Sharon Swails said the village received loan and grant funds from DWSRF for the new tower project, which has been operational since November.

Demolition is expected to begin in April, depending on weather.
