Open house • Clearwater Community Development Group, LLC, will host an open house at 603 Second Street, Saturday, Dec. 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The housing unit is the first the group has completed

A new housing structure in Clearwater is ready for occupancy.

Clearwater Community Development Group, LLC, will host an open house, Saturday, from 10 a.m.to 2 p.m. Community members, as well as anyone interested in moving to the village, are encouraged to take a tour.

The 1,200-square foot home, located at 603 South Second Street, sits on a corner lot. The front door opens to an open living room and kitchen with deep brown wood floors and light gray walls. The house has three bedrooms, master suite with built-in closet which doubles as a storm shelter, two bathrooms, a double garage and laundry room.

Indoor features include an under-mount kitchen sink, stainless steel kitchen appliances, soft-close cabinetry, hard surface floors in main living area and all-electric utilities.

Outside, the home features James Hardie siding, aluminum clad frame on exterior doors and Andersen windows.

In the spring, sidewalks will be poured, undeground sprinklers installed and sod added.

An open concept kitchen and living area is one feature in a new house constructed by the Clearwater Community Development Group.

Construction wrapped up ahead of schedule, according to CCDG member Bill Thiele.

"Originally, when we started, the contractor (TMAC Construction) said they would push for Dec. 15. He's about 30 days early," Thiele said. "We're dang happy with that."

In the April 8 edition of SAM, Thiele said, "We think our opportunity is with starter homes for single people, a new teacher, a young couple."

Now, the group believes the single-family dwelling could also accomodate a newlywed couple, a young family looking for their first home or someone considering downsizing.

A second CCDG housing project may be in the works.

"There are a couple lots in mind," said Curt Thiele, a CCDG member.
