Comissioners tackle light agenda

November 11, 2021

A local broadband company presented potential use of American Recovery Plan Act funds to help underserved and unserved Antelope County residents receive broadband access, to Antelope County Commissioners, at their Nov. 9 meeting in Neligh.

Klint Arnold, owner of Stealth broadband, said the company has submitted bids for Nebraska’s broadband Bridge Act, including projects in Antelope County.

Arnold asked commissioners to consider applying county ARPA funds to the project, which would include Neligh to Royal and Neligh to Orchard broadband access.

The topic will be placed on the agenda for December.

Commissioners voted to place $2,000 in a petty cash checking account for the Antelope County Law Enforcement Center. According to Commissioner Regina Krebs, who appeared via Zoom, between $1,000 and $2,000 is “what’s needed” to start the account, which will be used for civil processing fees.

Road superintendent Aaron Boggs said he has received calls requesting striping on the Orchard and Summerland roads.

In order for striping to be added, a average daily traffic study would need to be conducted.

This type of study was conducted when lighted caution signs were added near the intersection of Summerland and Orchard roads.

Boggs will talk to highway superintendent, Brian McDonald, about conducting a study for striping.
