Man accused of multiple felonies takes plea deal

Tyler J. Napier, 31, currently held at the Antelope County Jail, appeared before the Honorable Mark Johnson in the Antelope County district courtroom for a pretrial conference Oct. 27.

Napier was accused of, Count I, third-degree domestic assault, a Class 3A felony; Count II, strangulation, a Class 3A felony; Count III, strangulation, a Class 3A felony; Count IV, strangulation, a Class 3A felony; Count V, terroristic threats, a Class 3A felony; and Count IV, third-degree assault, a Class 1 misdemeanor. The alleged crimes took place April 25 and 28.

A plea agreement was announced. In return for dismissal of counts I through IV, Napier pleaded no contest to counts V and VI. As part of the agreement, Antelope County prosecutor Joe Abler agreed to file no additional charges in the case.

Johnson found the defendant guilty of the two counts and ordered a presentence investigation, with sentencing set Dec. 22.

Bond is continued in the amount of $250,000, 10%, including terms to have no contact, direct nor indirect, with the alleged victims, nor to be at 83646 524 Avenue, Elgin. He was remanded to the custody of Antelope County sheriff Robert Moore, pending posting of bond. Napier is represented by court-appointed counsel, Martin Klein of Neligh.

Two defendants were granted continuances of their pretrial hearings to Nov. 24, to allow time to complete details of potential plea deals. Jury trials remain on the Jan. 11, 2022, docket. Both defendants are represented by Antelope County public defender Pat Carney.

Tiffany Beckman, 35, of Neligh is accused of obtaining Medicaid assistance by fraud between Nov. 1, 2018, and April 30, 2020, (in an aggregate in excess of $1,500) and obtaining Nebraska Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits by fraud between Nov. 1, 2018, and Aug. 31, 2020, (in an aggregate in excess of $1,500). Both charges are Class 4 felonies.

Jennifer A. Blevins, 35, of Pierce, is charged with a Class 4 felony count, possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, alleged May 14 north of Oakdale. Bond, posted May 15, in the amount of $10,000, 10%, is continued.
