PROCEEDINGS Summerland Public School SPECIAL MEETING

July 7, 2021

Summerland Public School Board of Education held a special meeting, Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at the Orchard site. President EdNordby opened the meeting, which was advertised in the June 30 paper, at 6 p.m. and recognized the visitor.

Nordby noted the Open Meetings Act posted in the boardroom.

Roll call was taken. Present: CandiceHoke, Marty Kerkman, Nordby, Nate Schwager, Jeremy Wagner. absent: Steven Thiele.

Motion by Kerkman, seconded by Hoke, to excuse the absence of Thiele. Voting aye: Hoke, Kerkman, Nordby, Schwager, Wagner. Nay: none. Motion carried 5-0.

Motion by Wagner, seconded bySchwager, to approve the agenda.Voting aye: Hoke, Kerkman, Nordby, Schwager, Wagner. Nay: none. Motion carried 5-0.

Developing a high-performance board/superintendent leadership team, Phase V powerpoint. Alan Ehlers from McPherson & Jacobson presented a PowerPoint presentation on developing a high-performance board/superintendent leadership team.

Establishing performance objectives.

Darren Tobey from McPherson & Jacobson was also present and worked with the board on establishing performance objectives.

Determine expectations. The board discussed which expectations they would like to focus on for the upcoming year.

Setting first-year performance objectives. Discussion was held concerning setting how the objectives would be measured.

Feedback and input. Alan and Darren will work together with Superintendent Finke to develop the action plan.

President Nordby adjourned the meeting at 7:36 p.m.
