Cheatum earns state track medal

Summerland sophomore Hadley Cheatum earned the first state track and field medal for the Bobcats, May 22, at Burke Stadium in Omaha.

Cheatum ran 1:00.28 in Friday's preliminary of the 400m and advanced to Saturday's final. She finished fifth overall, with a time of 1:00.64.

In Saturday's 800m race, Cheatum finished 10th overall. She competed in the first heat and crossed the line first, in 2:23.42....
