US Highway 20 accident remains under investigation

A horse-drawn buggy and a pickup collided two miles west of Orchard, on U.S. Highway 20, Wednesday afternoon. The Nebraska State Patrol recently updated information on the accident.

An accident that happened Wednesday, along U.S. Highway 20, approximately two miles west of Orchard, remains under investigation by the Nebraska State Patrol.

At approximately 3:45, on March 24, the Antelope County Law Enforcement Center received several 911 calls reporting a crash involving a pickup and a horse-drawn buggy on Highway 20. According to Nebraska State Patrol authorities, both vehicles were westbound at the time of the collision.

Calvin and Elva Mae Otto, and their infant daughter, were occupants in the buggy. Calvin and the infant were transported to Antelope Memorial Hospital.

According to NSP Public Relations Director Cody Thomas, "Their injuries were believe to be non-life-threatening."

Elva Mae Otto was also transported to AMH. She was life-flighted to the University of Nebraska Medical Center, in Omaha, with serious injuries.

Ewing Rescue transported the driver of the pickup, a 16-year-old male, to Avera St. Anthony Hospital in O'Neill. His injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.

The Antelope County Sheriff's Office, Neligh Police Department, Orchard Rescue, Ewing Rescue and NSP responded to the scene.
