Summerland speech team members competed in two meets recently and several students brought home hardware.

At the Feb. 13 Wausa Invite, Emma Hoffman finished fourth in junior varsity extemporaneous speaking.

Julie Olivan received the sixth-place medal in oral interpretation of serious prose.

Coach Julie Harley said no varsity participants received medals at the meet.

On Feb. 20, the team traveled to Ainsworth and seven speakers received medals.

Summerland finished fifth in team standings.

In varsity competition, Emily Nordby and Kyra Nilson earned a bronze medal in duet acting.

Two speakers finished in fourth place in individual events, including Adrienne Parker in persuasive speaking and Natalie Stallbaum in oral interpretation of serious prose

The oral interpretation of drama team of Madison Melcher, Ashley Melcher and Parker placed fourth.

The Melcher sisters teamed to earn a fifth-place medal in duet acting.

In informative speaking, Faith King ended in sixth place.

Olga Mendoza earned superior ribbons in oral interpretation of poetry and oral interpretation of humorous prose.

The Bobcats were shut out of medal contention in the junior varsity division.
