Bobcats win another nail biter

February 4, 2021

Despite a flurry of costly turnovers, Summerland held on to claim a 47-43 win over Wausa, Jan. 28.

The second game of the night was action packed from start to finish. The Bobcats started quickly, jumping out to an 11-7 lead after the first period. Wausa was able to inch closer in the second quarter and only trailed the Bobcats by a score of 24-21, heading to halftime.

The Bobcats came out of the locker room on fire and managed to build a double-digit lead before the Vikings rallied, late in the quarter, to keep the deficit at three heading to the final period.

The last quarter featured a back-and-forth battle between the two squads, but the Bobcats were able to make plays when they needed it most and ultimately prevailed.

The Bobcats pick up their fifth win of the season behind a team-high 12 points from Jaykwon Petite.

Coach Jacob Birch said the game was a good game and created positive momentum.

"We still need to work to limit our turnovers; however, we did a nice job of battling throughout the whole game and learning to play back and forth and absorb some of their runs and counter with a run of our own."

The assistant coach added a number of Bobcat players stepped up and made plays during the contest.

"We also forced them into quite a few turnovers."
