The look • Ellie Dougherty sends a subliminal message to Bulldog defenders during a Jan. 19 junior varsity contest, in Clearwater.

The Lady Bobcats squared off against a tough Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Bulldog team, Jan. 19, and fell short, 58-51.

Offensively, Brenna Wagner led the team with 18 points. Both teams battled equally early in the game, ending the first quarter tied, 13-13.

In the second quarter, the Lady Bobcats were able to build a lead and go into the locker room, up 23-19.

The second half was exciting with multiple lead changes. Summerland held onto the lead in the third quarter to stay up, 39-38.

In the final quarter, the Lady Bobcats fell behind and just couldn't get back the lead.

Coach Greg Appleby said, "Our girls really executed our game plan well and we were able to lead by four at halftime and expand that lead right away, to nine, and held a lead going into the fourth quarter. A few bad minutes in the fourth quarter offensively allowed H/LHF to get a small lead against us and made it tough down the stretch. We did a good job on their big girl, who was averaging 22 points and 16 rebounds per game, but she is really tough inside and we just don't have that size to limit her inside. Real proud of our girls for a great effort against a high-quality team."
