Lady Bobcats grab win on the road

Steal it • Summerland's Hadley Cheatum scoots down court after securing a steal from an unidentified Plainview player. Cheatum finished the game with four points and six rebounds, as the Lady Cats downed the Pirates, 62-49, Jan. 5, in Plainview.

In the first away game since the holiday break, the Lady Bobcats won, 62-49, against the Plainview Pirates.

The teams met Jan. 5, in Plainview.

Brenna Wagner led the team offensively with 38 points and set the school record for most points scored in a single game.

Plainview opened up the first quarter, keeping things close, but ending it down 13-10.

In the second quarter, Summerland stretched the lead to 30-20

The Lady Pirates cut the lead to within nine points in third-quarter play.

The Summerland girls held off Plainview the rest of the game, to secure the win on the road.

Coach Greg Appleby expressed pleasure with the team's performance and said, "Our team did a nice job of getting the ball to Brenna (Wagner) in good situations."
