Christmas means more • Savannah Allemang expresses displeasure after meeting the Grinch at Saturday's Santa visit, in Clearwater.

While Santa Claus stopped in Clearwater, Saturday, a green-faced Grinch added to holiday fun, photobombing pictures as Jolly Old St. Nick greeted area youngsters at The Office.

Unlike past years, Santa parked his sleigh along the street and greeted families as they drove by.

Christmas joy • (front, l-r): Alyx Lyon and Haley Hobbs chuckle at banter between Santa and the Grinch. The girls shared holiday wishes with Santa, Saturday, at The Office, in Clearwater.

Santa read children's wish lists, asked who had been naughty and nice and offered holiday greetings and goody bags.

He told the Advocate-Messenger, "The best part of Christmas is receiving hugs and cookies."

The Grinch may have scared a few visitors when he popped up from behind a plywood windbreak, but the Dr. Seuss character drew mostly laughs from young and old.

The event was co-sponsored by the Clearwater Chamber of Commerce, Clearwater Public Library and ColdType Publishing.
