R-CALF USA, a national non-profit organization dedicated to profitability and viaility of the U.S. cattle industry, is circulating a petition, aksing President Donald Trump and members of Congress to pass mandatory country of original labeling for beef, pork and dairy products.

According to petition language, mCOOL will “strengthen national food security and help stimulate economic growth.”

mCOOL would require all imported domestic beef and pork be labeled as to where the animal was born, raised and harvested.

Dairy products would have origination point, in addition to where the product was produced, sourced and processed.

“In this time of crisis, every American consumer should be able to make an informed purchasing decision as to where their food is from. Access to safe food is the right of every American. mCOOL allows U.S. food producers to compete fairly against undifferentiated substitute imports,” according to R-CALF USA.
