Third positive case of COVID-19 identified in Antelope County

April 30, 2020

A third case of COVID-19 has been identified in Antelope County.

North Central District Health Department, in O'Neill, was made aware of a positive COVID-19 case. The individual and their family are in quarantine.

The case is due to work-related travel in Dawson County, where a high incident of confirmed cases exists and community spread is present.

As of noon, Thursday, April 30, 424 cases have tested positive in Dawson County; 844 individuals have been tested there.

NCDHD has initiated contact investigations and has been rapidly assessing potential exposures, according to Carol Doolittle, prevention coordinator.

A limited number of close contacts who were around the individual while they were symptomatic have been identified and are in self-quarantine by staying home.

At this time, risk to the general public is low as the case and close contacts are following guidance and taking necessary precautions.

NCDHD would like to remind our district communities, Gov. Ricketts' office announced new Directed Health Measures for the NCDHD area, beginning May 4.

Continue to follow current guidance through May 3. NCDHD will notify the district of DHM updates and changes as we receive them, via press, social media and website at http://www.nchd.ne.gov.
