February 27, 2020

Impressions of a Midwest Flood, an art exhibit by Nebraska artist Elizabeth Kois, will open March 7 and be on display until March 31, at the Neligh Public Library, 710 M Street, in Neligh.

Kois will be at the March 7 opening, from 2 to 4 p.m. Refreshments will be served and music played during the event.

According to Kois, the show is a series of paintings depicting before, during and after the 2019 flood. Kois used what she calls blotscapes, or impressionist ink paintings of landscapes, to develop the artwork.

Her work features ink on drywall.

“During this process, I was able to meet and talk with those affected by the flood,” Kois said.

Kois said she has liked painting since she was young and decided to study art in college.

A 2009 University of Nebraska-Omaha graduate with a Bachelor’s of Art Education degree., Kois has taught classes at Joslyn Museum..

She has created several murals in Omaha and Council Bluffs.
