New leadership • Kathy Ahlers will serve as manager of the Clearwater Market.

A familiar face will greet customers at Clearwater Market, as Kathy Ahlers assumes managerial duties of village's grocery store.

Her first day in the new position was Oct. 14.

Ahlers, who spent 11 and one-half years at USDA Farm Services Agency, has prior grocery experience.

"I worked at Jo's Market for one year before going to FSA," she said.

Customer service will be top priority for Ahlers and store employees Sandy Moser and Rochelle Allemang.

"If customers have requests for items, let us know," Ahlers said.

One idea she plans to implement is a grab and go section, offering healthy choices, like fresh fruits and vegetables, yogurt and, in time, quick meal options.

Improvements in the meat case are also in the works. Ahlers would like to add sliced deli meat and pre-formed burger patties.

As the holiday season approaches, fruit baskets and seasonal items will be available.

"I'm open to suggestions," Ahlers said.

She placed the store's Oct. 11 order and is taking note of what changes will need to be made in upcoming orders, which are submitted on Fridays.

"The truck comes one time a week, on Tuesday," she said.

New management • Clearwater Market opened in June 2018. Kathy Ahlers, of Clearwater, joins the staff as store manager. The store is a community-owned business.

If people want items for a special occasion, the order needs to be placed one to two weeks prior to the event.

"Especially bread orders," Ahlers noted.

Clearwater Market Board of Directors member Bill Thiele said they are "ecstatic about hiring Kathy."

"She brings a lot of experience," Thiele said. "If people visited the store in the past and found something was missing, we'd like a second chance to show customers what the store has to offer."

New customers are always welcome to check out the store and its offerings, according to directors.

Store hours will also be adjusted to fit customer needs.

The store will operate from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday; 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays and 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sundays.
