Third time's a charm.

After two tie votes to determine who will fill a village trustee seat vacated by Jerome Dougherty, Kane Fry, of Ewing, was elected to serve the remainder of the term during the Aug. 12 Ewing Village Board of Trustees meeting.

Fry and Jeremy Tuttle submitted letters of interest to the board.

In other matters, trustees:

• held a community development block grant hearing for storm sewer replacement and paving; and

• discussed the loss of recycling services with Bud's Sanitation.
