Holt County Sheriff's Office personnel responded to a two-vehicle collision, north of Atkinson, on Nov. 15. At approximately 4 a.m., a 2013 Freightliner, driven by Derek Hollenbeck, was northbound on Highway 11. As he approached 881 Road and attempted to turn westbound onto 881 Road, he hit the front end of a trailer on a 2013 Volvo semitruck, driven by Danaila Mugurel. The deadline for the 2024 Phase II Annual Reports is Dec. 31. If you farm in a Phase II or Phase III area, you are required to submit a Phase II report for every field larger than 40 acres. Where more than 50 pounds per acre of actual nitrogen fertilizer, commercial or organic, is applied (for example: corn) a full report is required. When Larry and Judy Parker moved to Clearwater in 1965, little did they know they would spark the idea for one of the hottest rodeo tickets in Nebraska. On Nov. 9, Clearwater Chamber of Commerce honored the Judy Parker, the late Larry Parker and Steve Patras, of Clearwater, for orchestrating the first Clearwater Rodeo in 1967 and named the new building on the grounds the Double P Tack Room. County leadership will see only one change following the Nov. 5 General Election. Don Linquist Jr. will be the new District 4 supervisor in Holt County. He defeated incumbent Scott Keyes in the May primary. In the General Election, Linquist received 82.27% - or 719 - votes. Four write-in votes were recorded. The Honorable James Kube issued a bench warrant for Christopher B. Brady, 33, of Elgin, for failure to appear for sentencing in Antelope County District Court on Oct. 30. Brady originally was scheduled for sentencing on a charge of third-degree assault - domestic, a Class I misdemeanor, on Sept. 25, but was unable to provide a sample for a chemical test and admitted he would test positive for THC. Orchard Village Trustees approved a $6,500 bid from John Prouty Construction for demolition of a house situated at 135 W. 3rd Street when they met Oct. 21 in regular session. Orchard voters chose Stephanie Cleveland and John Ferguson to retain their seats on the board. In Royal, Dennis L. Bridge and Duaine Brandt were the top vote-getters, with 21 each. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has announced the filing of a settlement agreement with three parties requiring the cleanup of contamination at the Iowa-Nebraska Light & Power Company Superfund Site in Norfolk. The settlement was filed in the United States District Court of the District of Nebraska and is subject to a 30-day public comment period and final court approval.
