Krebs earns second medal of the season

Lady Cats "Battle at the Point"

Raina Krebs brought home a second-place medal, Saturday, from the Battle at the Point girls' wrestling invitational, held in West Point.

Summerland finished 19th in the 30-team field, scoring 36 points.

South Sioux City topped the field, with 192 points and Grand Island, Pierce, Crofton-Bloomfield and Omaha North rounded out the top five.

Krebs opened competition in the 235-pound division by pinning Alexis Anderson, Battle Creek, in :34. In the quarter final, Krebs battled Allee Jo Inzauro, of Conestoga, eventually winning, by fall, in 5:20.

The win set up a semifinal match against South Sioux City's Caitlyn Sohm. With nine seconds left in the match, Krebs pinned Sohm, in 5:51.

In the championship match, Krebs met SSC's Melissa De La Torre, who pinned the Bobcat sophomore in 5:18.


In the 110-pound class, Lenora Kester lost a first-round match, by fall, in 4:28 to Harper Sutton, of Elkhorn.

Kester won two consolation matches, pinning Yutan's Anna Rupp in :25 and Ayshia Delancey, of Columbus Lakeview, in 2:19.

Kester was eliminated after dropping an 8-5 decision to Tyonna Brown, of Omaha North.

Ashley Melcher competed in the 120-pound class. She lost, by fall, to Yutan's Aubrie Pehrson, in :35.

In the second consolation round, Melcher won, by forfeit, over Macy Salzbrenner, of Elkhorn, and lost, by fall, in 2:27, to SSC's Rebeca Perez.

Jadyn Hobbs lost to Liberty Titiml, of Wayne, in the opening round of the 145-pound division. Titiml pinned Hobbs in 3:20.

In the consolation round, Hobbs was pinned by Ella Kessler, of Viborg-Hurley/Irene-Wakonda, in 2:14.

Emma Petersson lost to Conestoga's Gabrielle Landon, by fall, in 5:29 in the first round of the 170-pound class.

She pinned Alexis Lind, of Elkhorn Valley, in 2:18 in the consolation round before Kayleigh Marksmeier, of West Point-Beemer, eliminated Peterson after a win by pin, in 2:06.
