Farmers are focus of Orchard community celebration

Summer fun • Youngsters take a Saturday morning train ride during the 2021 Orchard Free Days celebration. The 2022 event includes events for all ages.

Orchard Community Club will give a nod to area farmers during the 2022 Orchard Free Days Celebration, with events scheduled to begin Friday, July 29 and continue through Sunday, July 31.

Orchard Historical Society will host the Remember the Fallen exhibit at the Rex Theatre. The moving memorial opened to the public, Tuesday and will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. July 27 and 28.

On Friday, July 29, the District 57 School will open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. At the same time, visit the Remember the Fallen exhibit at the Rex.

Orchard Historical Society will host a drive-thru chicken dinner, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Rex.


Join in the fun by playing laser tag, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the school gym.

Tiger Tavern will be in Orchard, beginning at 5 p.m., to serve food-truck fare.

Duck races, sponsored by the Tri-County Titans Legion baseball team, will begin at 5 p.m., at the Orchard pool.

A road rally, sponsored by Orchard News/ACN, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m.

KBRX will be spinning tunes during cruise night, on Main Street, from 6 to 8 p.m.


A beer garden and street dance, featuring the Dillon Gaige Band, with special guest Trent Brown, will be held from 9 a.m. to midnight.

Dusty’s Quonset will be the site for biscuits and gravy, with serving from 10 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

Saturday events kick off with River Mille Coffee selling coffee, from 9 to 11 a.m., at the baseball field.

REPS will offer a full-body workout at the baseball field, starting at 10 a.m.

The District 57 School will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

At The Rex Theatre, the Remember the Fallen exhibit will be on display from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Plains Cover Crop will sponsor a ping pong drop at the football field, at 11 a.m.

Dusty’s will be serving food at the Quonset, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

A petting zoo will be available from noon to 2 p.m. at the pool park.

From 1 to 5 p.m., a swim party will take place at the pool.

The annual poker run will start at The Den, at noon, with a 1 p.m. departure planned.

The annual Orchard Young Men’s Club co-ed cornhole tournament will start registration at 3 p.m.

Laser tag will be available at the school gym, from 4 to 8 p.m.

orchard fire department will host a wing feed from 5 to 7 p.m.

Ruminator will play from 9 p.m. until midnight. The beer garden will be open during this time.

Start Sunday morning with pancakes, served from 8 a.m. until noon, at the Orchard Gym by the Tri-County Titans Legion baseball team. A freewill donation will be accepted.

A community church service will be held at the Orchard Park, at 10 a.m.

The Remember the Fallen exhibit, along with the District 57 School will open at 11 a.m. and remain available for viewing until 7 p.m.

Registration for the parade will begin at 1 p.m., at the school. The parade will begin at 3 p.m. Farmers are encouraged to enter their farm equipment.

Inflatables will be available from 4 to 7 p.m.

Dusty’s will serve funnel cakes and cotton candy from 4 to 7. Summerland Volleyball players will host bingo and brownie sundaes, from 4 to 7 p.m.

A free beef barbecue will be held from 5 to 7 p.m.
