Who will be Miss Clearwater Rodeo

Four contestants vie for crown

Miss Clearwater Rodeo 2022 will be crowned Friday, June 24, at approximately 7:30 p.m., in the Gene Snodgrass Arena.

Four contestants will compete for the Miss Clearwater Rodeo title, this Friday, at the 55th annual Clearwater Rodeo.

Queen contest chairman Devon Baum said contestants will be judged in several areas, including personality, appearance and horsemanship.

Brooke Brengelman, Albion, Adreanna Dunn, Walthill, Shealynn Rasmussen, Burwell and Shilo Shabram, Neligh will begin competition Friday, at 3 p.m., in the Gene Snodgrass Arena at the rodeo grounds.

"We invite the public to watch the girls compete in the horsemanship portion of the contest, which includes a reining pattern, rail work, a cattle-working challenge, flag presentation and an introductory queen wave," Baum said.

Following the arena competition, contestants will meet with judges, individually, for personal interviews at L-Bar-B Steakhouse. The interviews are not open to the public.

Baum said, "We really strive to give the girls an experience that is fairly close to the Miss Rodeo Nebraska pageant or a bigger title. A rodeo queen must have a lot of knowledge across the board of rodeo, current events, horses and just be a total package."

Miss Clearwater Rodeo 2022 will be announced at 7:30 p.m., prior to Friday evening's opening night of rodeo competition.

BROOKE BRENGELMAN

A junior at Boone Central High School, Brengelman lives on a farm outside of Albion.

She has four siblings: Michael, Virgil, Clara and Henry. Brooke is the second child of Scott and Heather Brengelman.

In her application essay, Brengelman wrote, "I've always loved animals, especially horses, from a young age."

She believes involvement in 4-H spurred her interest as she learned to ride and became interested in speed events.

"I soon learned the pattern and started to go faster each time I ran," she wrote.

Barrel racing is her favorite event, although she enjoys playing with rope.

Outside of rodeo, she likes to spend time with friends and family or at work.

Brengleman is active in cheerleading, FFA and speech.

ADREANNA DUNN

Dunn, the 17-year-old daughter of Lewis and Erika Dunn, of Walthill, is a recent graduate at Homer Community High School. Adreanna will be attending Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in the fall, majoring in animal science.

Dunn's favorite things to do are riding horses and shooting guns. She rides both Western and English and likes competing in local shows. She is involved in the Homer Future Leaders 4-H Club, where she serves as president.

SHEALYN RASMUSSEN

Rasmussen is the 16-year-old daughter of Scott and Carrie Rasmussen of Burwell.

When the school bell rings this fall, Rasmussen will be a senior at Burwell Junior-Senior High School, where she is involved in FFA, FCCLA, one act, speech and National Honor Society. She is the treasurer of the Burwell FFA chapter and vice president of STAR events of the Burwell FCCLA chapter.

"I am also involved in 4-H, Karp & Krow shooting team, high school rodeo" Rasmussen wrote in her application essay.

Rasmussen has liked riding horses "for as long as I can remember," and has competed at the county level of 4-H horse shows.

On the high school rodeo circuit, Rasmussen competes in goat tying, pole bending, barrel racing and trap shoot.

"As Miss Clearwater Rodeo, I would work to be a great influencer and educate everyone about the great sport of rodeo," Rasmussen wrote. "I'd be someone they can look up to as an inspiration for years to come."

Rasmussen plans to attend college and study physical therapy or agriculture education.

SHILO SHABRAM

Shabram, of Neligh, has competed in multiple 4-H horse shows, including halter, English, western and speed events.

She wrote, "I also high school rodeo for Nebraska and have competed in goat tying, pole bending, barrel racing and the queen contest."

Shabram competes on two unique horses, Gunner and Dollar, which she has trained in goats, poles and barrels.

The 16 year old will be a senior at Neligh-Oakdale High School, where she is involved in FFA, FBLA, FCCLA, 4-H, dance team, cross country and National Honor Society.

She has served as an FFA officer for two years and will lead the chapter as president this upcoming school year. Additionally, Shabram has gained leadership experience as FBLA treasurer and a FCCLA district representative, where she had the opportunity to serve as secretary on the district officer team.

Following graduation, Shabram plans to attend Mid-Plains Community College, in McCook for two years and compete on the rodeo team. Then, she will transfer to the University of Wyoming at Laramie to earn a Bachelor's degree in human and social services, in order to become a social worker.
