Thomson qualifies for state meet

Trevor Thomson will represent Summerland at the 2022 Boys' Class C NSAA Track and Field Meet. He qualified, Thursday, in the 100m and 200m races, at the Class C5 district meet, in Atkinson.

Trevor Thomson earned silver medals in two running events at Thursday's Class C5 district track meet in Atkinson. He will advance to the 2022 Class C Nebraska State Track and Field Championship, Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21, in Omaha.

With his sights set on a trip to the state meet, Thomson crossed the finish line in 11:42 in the 100m and picked up second-place finish.

In the 200m prelim, Thomson ran 22.54, a personal record. In the final, he ran 22.79, finishing second.

Thomson earned third medal as part of the 4x100 relay team. Thomson, Keegan Smith, Kendrick Schroeder and Jaykwon Petite finished fourth, in 45.65.

Carter Bergman took home a fifth-place medal in high jump. He cleared 5' 9".


Alec Schindler ran 44.82 in the 300 hurdles, earning a sixth-place medal.

Schindler, Smith, David Arroyo and Anthony Ferris ended fifth in the 4x400 relay, running 3:52.13.

Battle Creek claimed the team title, scoring 186 points. The Bobcats finished in seventh, totaling 25 points.

Thomson will run two preliminary races, Friday, May 21, at Omaha Burke Stadium. The 100m prelim begins at 3:05 and the 200m prelim starts at 6:30 p.m.

Finals in the 100m will run Saturday at 3:25 p.m., while the 200m final is slated for a 5:10 p.m. start.

The Bobcats set 17 personal or season records during district competition.

Arroyo: 400m, 14th, 58.53, pr;

Sam Cheatum: 400m, 22nd, 1:05.62; 300h, 16th, 52.20 and triple jump, 17th, 32' 3";

Logan Eacker: 800m, seventh, 2:20.03, pr;

Bergman: 800m, 10th, 2:24.03;

Ferris: 800m, 14th, 2:29.54; pole vault, 10th, 9'9", pr;

AJ Hobbs: 1600m, 14th, 5:38.41, pr;

Preston Hoke: 1600m, 5:47.04, pr;

Schindler: 100h, ninth, 17.4, pr; triple jump, seventh, 38' 6";

Parker Napier: 300h, 14th, 48.58, pr and long jump, 20th, 16' 1.5";
