Season ends for Lady Bobcats following loss to Wolfpack

The Lady Bobcats finished the 2021-2022 campaign with a 12-10 record, following a 62-56 loss to Elgin Public/Pope John in the first round of the D1-6 subdistrict, Feb. 15, at Humphrey.

"I was really proud of how our girls competed against a very good EPPJ team last night," Coach Greg Appleby said.

On Feb. 10, the Wolfpack beat Summerland by 22 points.

What a difference five days makes.

"With 30 seconds left (in the subdistrict game, we had a four-point game and gave ourselves a chance," Appleby said. "We really played hard and executed the game plan both offensively and defensively."

Three players finished in double figures, as Hadley Cheatum led Summerland with 16 points. Lydia Robertson added 15 and Adyson Mlnarik chipped in a dozen.

Cheatum earned a double-double, finishing the contest with 10 rebounds.

Appleby said his squad will miss four seniors, Emily Nordby, Emma Kerkman, Natalie Stallbaum and Lizett Marino.

"These four girls were great leaders for our team and are excellent representatives of Summerland High School. We will return four starters next year and look to continue to build the girls' basketball program at Summerland," Appleby said.
