Jacob and Christian Behnk traveled to Peru, Saturday, Jan. 22, to compete in the Peru State powerlifting Meet.

More than 192 lifters competed in the meet.

Jacob Behnk finished fifth in a group of 14 lifters in the 198-pound class. He finished with a 330-pound squat, 255-pound bench press, 415-pound deadlift and a 1,000-pound total.

Christian Behnk earned third in the 275-pound class, with a squat of 220 pounds, bench press of 145 pounds and a 320-pound deadlift. His combined total was 685 pounds.

Columbus earned the team championship, while Lexington receive the runner-up trophy in the boys' team standings.

Other teams placings included Omaha Gross Catholic, Grand Island, Omaha Skutt, David City Aquinas, Niobrara/Verdigre, Bruning-Davenport-Shickley, Nebraska City, Summerland, Lexington JV, Auburn, Johnson-Brock and Columbus JV.

Lexington earned the girls' team title. Columbus finished second. Other top teams included Omaha Gross Catholic, N/V, Columbus Scotus, Lexington JV, Lincoln High, Skutt and Johnson-Brock.

Columbus and Lexington finished first and second in the co-ed race. Omaha Gross Catholic placed third; N/V, fourth and Skutt, fifth.
