Marilyn M. Picotte, 67, of Chambers appeared in front of the Honorable Kale Burdick in the Holt County courtroom in O’Neill on Tuesday, Jan. 11, to be sentenced for three counts, Count I, driving under the influence of drugs, first offense, a Class W misdemeanor; Count II, possession of drug paraphernalia, an infraction; and possession of marijuana, one ounce or less, first offense, an infraction. On Count I, Burdick sentenced Picotte to seven days in the Holt County Jail, to commence at 9 a.m. Jan. 14, with credit given for one day previously served, along with a $500 fine and a six-month revocation of her driver’s license. He fined her $100 on Count II, $300 on Count III and she was taxed $60 costs of prosecution.

Picotte waived her right to counsel when she was arraigned Nov. 16, 2021, and pleaded guilty to all three counts. She was arrested after her vehicle struck a streetlight in O’Neill on Oct. 8, 2019.

Casandra J. Mosel, 21, of Page faced Burdick for further arraignment on three counts. She pleaded guilty to counts I and II, no operator’s license, a Class 3 misdemeanor, and no proof of financial responsibility, a Class II misdemeanor committed Oct. 13, 2021. A third count, no valid registration, was dismissed by Holt County attorney Brent Kelly. Burdick fined her $75 and $175, respectively, and she was assessed $50 costs. Mosel waived her right to counsel, after her request for court-appointed counsel was denied at her first hearing on Nov. 16.
