All hands on deck All Hands on Deck: Summerland's Alec Schindler andWest Holt player Lincoln Konrad reach for a rebound, while Dillon Moser attempts to secure the ball. West Holt held on for a 46-41 win, Friday, in Atkinson.

The Bobcats clawed through two opponents last week, finishing 2-1, after picking up wins over Plainview and North Central.

The Cats sit 5-6 on the season, following Friday's five-point loss to West Holt.

Coach Brett Kaczor said it was a busy, but successful week.

"Three games in one week after the holiday break, is very taxing, but we had a good number of guys step up into new roles," Kaczor said.

During a Jan. 4 home game against Plainview, the Bobcats relied on stong first- and fourth-quarter shooting to secure the 56-43 win.

Keegan Smith shot 88% from the two-point range, scoring 14 points in the win.

Three other players finished in double figures, including Mason Hoke and Alec Schindler, who each ended with 11 and Michael Koenig pitched in 10 points.

Hoke and Schindler completed a double-double, as Hoke grabbed a dozen rebounds and Schindler nabbed 10.

On Thursday, Summerland overcame a five-point deficit and held the Knights to seven points in the final quarter to bring home a come-from-behind 47-42 victory.

Michael Koenig and Schindler led the Bobcats, as Koenig scored 15 points. Schindler scored 13 points.

The Bobcats shot 50% from the two-point range, but were only able to connect on two of 16 shots from the three-point range.

Summerland fell short against West Holt, with the Huskies earning a 46-41 home win.

Kaczor said his squad was "running on fumes" during the contest.

"They all dug deep and gave everything they had. We are really starting to get and figure things out as a team."

Kaczor credits younger players with adapting to the effort and execution required to compete nightly. They are learning on the court from upperclassmen.

"The older guys are doing a nice job of leading by example."

The Bobcats were nine of 26 from the two point range and went 8 for 14 at the charity stripe.

Summmerland faces another three-game week, with a Jan. 11 contest against Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family.

"Our goal is to keep getting better each practice and game and be playing our best ball by the time conference rolls around," Kaczor said.
