Three Bobcats earn medals at inaugaral meet

Ammy Arroyo, Lenora Kester and Calissa Kester stamped their names in the Bobcat athletic history books, Saturday, as the first girls' varsity wrestlers to earn medals in a meet.

Arroyo led the Bobcats, earning the silver medal in the 235-class at Saturday's O'Neill Invite.

In the opening round, Arroyo defeated Madelynn Jakubowski, of O'Neill, by fall, in 3:24. That set up a second-round match against teammate, Calissa Kester. Arroyo claimed the win by pin, in 1:14 The sophomore lost, by fall, in :45, to Pierce's Kenzie Parsons in the championship match.

Kester loss to Arroyo set up a consolation match against Madison Melcher. Kester earned a win, pinning her teammate in 3:39. She lost, by fall, in :21, to Jakubowski in the third-place match.


Lenora Kester earned the bronze medal in the 114-division.

She lost, by fall, in :15, to Sarai Mendez, of Grand Island, in the first round. During round two, Kester pinned Hadleigh Collison, of Pierce, in 1:55.In round four, Ella Reeves, of Battle Creek, pinned Kester in 3:25. In the final round, Kester pinned Jordan Donohoe, of O'Neill, in 3:33.

Raina Krebs squared off against Melcher, in round one. Krebs won, by fall, in 3:05. She faced Parsons in the second round, losing by fall, in 1:09.
