Lines to the new Clearwater wastewater lift station were tested at the end of October. Village trustees learned about the testing during the board’s Nov. 8 meeting.

Chairman Steve Hankla said he checked the line twice within a two-hour time frame and “it was a titch over 100 pounds.”

“They wanted to get that done before it got cold,” Hankla said.

To complete the project, a valve entering the new lift station needs to be installed, the inside of the station painted and pumps set.

“Supposedly, the rest of it is done,” Hankla said.

Trustee Kevin Filsinger asked if an overflow had been installed, in case electricity would be disrupted.

Hankla said he did not remember seeing one.

“I think we need that,” Filsinger said.

Clerk Angie Hupp said she would contact Miller & Associates, the project engineer, about the overflow.

Trustees approved special conditions related to the Nebraska Affordable Housting Trust Fund grant. A list of conditions includes how the project will fulfill the fair housing marketing requirement. In April, the village will partner with the Clearwater Public Library to promote Fair Housing Month. Coloring pages, explaining the concept will be distributed.

Economic development director Lauren Sheridan-Simonsen will update the village’s website, adding links and information about fair housing.

Trustees also approved the 2021 Antelope County Local Emergency Operations Plan, which is now digitized.
