Wessel J. Pelser, 30, of Bartlett appeared in the Madison County courtroom last week on Antelope County charges.

Pelser pleaded guilty to two counts, driving under the influence of alcohol, first offense, a Class W misdemeanor, and speeding, 91 miles per hour in a 65-mph zone, an infraction.

The Honorable Donna Taylor sentenced Pelser to 21 days in the Antelope County Jail, with credit for one day previously served; a $500 fine and revoked his driver’s license for one year on the DUI conviction, and a $200 fine for the speeding count, along with $150 costs of prosecution. She ordered balance of fine/costs be paid or sat out prior to release from jail.

Pelser was arrested Aug. 28, one and one-half miles south of Neligh on Highway 14.

Arraignment and sentencing were held Sept. 8 in Madison, by agreement and for the convenience of the parties. Pelser was represented by Martin Klein of Neligh, while Antelope County Attorney Joe Abler prosecuted.

Michael R. Hernandez, 29, of Clearwater pleaded guilty Sept. 10, by waiver, to counts of speeding, 11-15 mph over the posted limit, an infraction, and depositing rubbish on roadway, first offense, a Class 3 misdemeanor.

Hernandez was cited Aug. 24 by a Nebraska State Patrol officer west of Neligh on Highway 275, for driving 79 mph and throwing “cigarette ashes out the window when asked not to due to drought.”
