Two defendants arrested near Clearwater on Sept. 29, accused of theft by receiving stolen property, $1,500-$4,999, related to a stolen Suburban, had their bonds reduced by the Honorable Donna Taylor last week

They waived their rights to preliminary hearings when they faced Taylor in the Antelope County courtroom and were bound over to Antelope County district court. Both were set for district court arraignment Oct. 28.

Christopher J. Alexander, 22, of Omaha, was accompanied by his court-appointed attorney, Martin Klein of Neligh. Klein asked to be heard on bond, which had been reduced Oct. 15, from $50,000, 10% cash, to $15,000, 10%. Taylor further reduced bond to $10,000, 10%, with conditions he notify the Antelope County sheriff of his address and provide confirmation from the party he intends to reside with. He was remanded to the custody of sheriff Bob Moore, pending posting of bond.

Eliud A. Herrara-Cuevas, 21, of San Bernardino, California, an alleged passenger in the stolen Suburban, faced the same felony charge, in addition to a Class 3 misdemeanor, criminal mischief, 0-$500. The misdemeanor count was dismissed by county prosecutor Joe Abler, without prejudice. Herrara-Cuevas’s court-appointed attorney, Melissa Figueroa of Norfolk, also requested reduction of bond for her client. Taylor reduced bond from $50,000, 10%, to $10,000, 10%. He was ordered not to leave Nebraska without permission of the court and to notify the sheriff’s office of his address within 24-hours of release on bond. He was remanded to Moore’s custody.
