Warriors dominate Summerland

A two-quarter dry spell for Summerland’s offense resulted in lopsided loss, Sept. 25, as Neligh-Oakdale manhandled the home team, 68-14.

The Bobcats struck first when Dalton Rotherham intercepted an Aiden Kuester pass and ran 30 yards for a quick six.

Trevor Thomson scooted in for the PAT, giving Summerland an 8-0 lead.

Kuester answered with a 20-yard run of his own, and when Conor Dempsey tiptoed into the end zone, the Warriors evened the score at eight apiece.

Julien Hearn added a 50-yard punt return for six and Kuester ran in the PAT, giving N-O a 16-8 lead.

The second quarter featured more of the Kuester and Hearn show, as Kuester threw a bomb to the senior running back for a 75-yard score. Kuester threw to Hearn for the PAT.


Kuester tossed a 68-yard pass to Hearn, who found the end zone again. Dempsey added a PAT.

Garret Belitz reeled in a 19-yard Kuester pass for a score. Kuester’s PAT run was successful.

Prior to the end of the half, Hearn sprinted downfield 25 yards, striding into the end zone. Dempsey added the PAT.

The Warriors led 48-8 at the break.

The Bobcats faced a running clock in the third quarter but were unable to find the goal line.

Kuester sailed a 10-yard pass to Colton Klabenes to boost the Warrior lead to 54-8 at the end of the third quarter.

Mason Hoke scored the Bobcat’s second touchdown of the evening with a quick five-yard run. The PAT failed.

Chase Furstenau commandeered two final drives for the Warriors, connecting with Carson Whitesel on a 40-yard pass resulting in a score and capped it off with a 65-yard pass to Bryson Gadeken for six.
