Surprise attack • Kyra Nilson dumps the ball across the net during a game against Elkhorn Valley, Thursday, in Tilden.

The Lady Bobcats brought their "A" game to the season opener.

The ace game, that is, sent Summerland to a 2-0 start after winning the Elkhorn Valley triangular.

After EV downed West Holt in straight sets, the Lady Cats sent the Huskies packing, sweeping the match 25-15 and 25-18.

Avery Cheatum sent six unaswered serves, Adyson Mlnarik finished with four perfect serves and Brenna Wagner added three to the count.

Setter Kyra Nilson finished with 11 set assists, including six shots to Brenna Wagner, who finished with six kills.

Hadley Cheatum earned two kills and Emily Nordby, Maryssa Long and Mlnarik nailed one each.

The win set up a Summerland-EV nightcap that started with the Falcons clawing their way to a 25-21 win.

But Summerland refused to go away, scratching out a 25-18, before winning a 26-24 nail biter in the third set.

Nilson sailed four aces across the net. Mlnarik and Avery Cheatum each picked up two aces.

Wagner, Hadley Cheatum, Nordby and Taelyn Switzer led in kills, with nine, six, four and two, respectively.

Mlnarik and Avery Cheatum each finished the match with 16 digs.
