Holt County Fair begins Tuesday

 

The 2020 Holt County Fair, in Chambers, will have a different look this year.

All livestock shows will be show and go, with youth bringing and taking home livestock the days of the shows.

"The public is welcome to attend any of the youth events but are asked to follow the current health guidelines established by the North Central Health Department," board members posted on the fair's website.

Activities begin Tuesday, Aug. 4, with the 4-H horse show. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m.

At 8 a.m., individuals are invited to meet in the ring in the rodeo arena for prayer, followed by the Star Spangled Banner.

The 4-H horse show will include showmanship, horsemanship, pleasure, reining, barrels and poles, trail, working ranch and roping events.


On Aug. 5, all static exhibits need to be dropped off at the agriculture and miscellaneous buildings between 9 a.m. and noon.

Exbitits will be judged, beginning at 1 p.m.

The dog show is slated to start at 2:30 p.m., following the prayer and national anthem in the rodeo arena. Clover Kids will show first, followed by the 4-H show, in the show barn and agility ring.

Market hogs may weigh in from 7 to 8 p.m.

Thursday events begin with an 8 a.m. check-in for cats, pocket pets and small animals.

At the same time, individuals are invited to meet in the rodeo arena for the daily prayer and national anthem.

Clover Kids and 4-H cat show will be held from 9 to 11 a.m.

The market hog show will also begin at 9, in the show barn, north arena.


Weigh-in for sheep and meat goats will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. Bottle lamb interviews are scheduled for 1:30.

At 3 p.m., in the north show arena, Clover Kids bottle lamb projects, 4-H bottle lambs and sheep show will be held, followed by the meat goat show at 5 p.m.

Market beef, feeder cattle and second-year bucket calves may be checked in Friday, Aug. 7, from 7:30 to 9 a.m.

Prayer and national anthem will be held in the rodeo arena at 9.

At 9:30, the beef show will take place in the show barn, with market beef, showmanship, breeding and feeder calves. The bucket calf show will take place immediately following the beef show. The Clover Kids bucket calf show will cap off the event.

Bucket calf interviews will be held between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

On Saturday, Aug. 8, dairy cattle, dairy goats, poultry and rabbits will be checked in between 8 and 9 a.m.

Prayer and national anthem will take place at 8:30 a.m., in the rodeo arena.

Clover Kids dairy goat projects will be shown in the south show arena, starting at 9 a.m., followed by 4-H bottle dairy goats and the dairy goat show.

Immediately following, dairy cattle will be shown.

The rabbit show will begin 10 a.m., with Clover Kids showing first. The poultry and waterfowl show will begin following the rabbit show.

All static exhibits will be released at 1 p.m.
