The 4-H division of the Antelope County Fair will have a different look in 2020.

Tessa Hain, 4-H youth development coordinator, said, extension personnel appreciate input for how fair events will look due to COVID-19 concerns.

“We had to make some tough decisions to put on a safe fair for all of our youth and for our community,” she wrote in a July 1 email. “We are really happy that we can get together face to face to celebrate our 4-Hers and their hard work.”

On Sunday, July 12, shooting sports participants will compete in a county shoot, including archery, BB gun, air rifle, trap and .22 rifle.

Competition will be held at respective ranges. BB gun and air rifle sections will be held at the fairgrounds exhibit building.

The first pre-fair clean-up will be Monday, July 20, at 6:30 p.m.

Entry day and judging for clothing and quilt quest programs will be from 9 a.m. to noon, at the exhibit building. Interviews will not be held.

A style revue will be held that day, with interview times assigned.

Photography judging will take place at the exhibit building, however, interviews will not be held.

Three animal shows will be held Monday, July 27.

Check-in for the horse show will begin at 7 a.m. and continue for one hour. The show will begin at 8:30 a.m. and continue until finished.

Individuals participating in the cat show will check in from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Show time is set for 10 to 12 p.m.

Pocket pets will check in at 11:30 a.m., with the show set to begin immediately following the cat show.

A second pre-fair clean-up will begin Monday at 6:30 p.m.

Three additional pet shows will occur Tuesday, July 28.

The dog show will run from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Contestants may check in at 8 a.m.

Rabbit exhibitors will be in the exhibit hall, from 9 a.m. to noon. Check-in will begin at 7:30 and continue until 8:30 a.m.

Poultry check-in will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., in the poultry barn. The show will begin at 1 p.m. and continue until 6 p.m., in the livestock show ring.

Favorite foods table setup will run from 4 to 7 p.m., on the west side of the exhibit building. 4-H participants in the event also entered in poultry can set up tables in the morning.

Entry day for static and Clover Kid exhibits will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.., Wednesday, July 29, with curb-style drop off. No interviews will be held this year.

Dairy entries may be checked in from 2 to 3 p.m. The show will run from 4 to 7 p.m.

Thursday events include goat and sheep shows.

Goats may be checked in from 8 to 9:30 a.m., with the show scheduled for 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Sheep exhibits may be entered from 2 to 3 p.m. Showtime begins at 4 and continues until 7 p.m.

On Friday, July 31, bucket calves and beef shows will take place. Check-in will run from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Bucket calf show times, including Clover Kids, will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The beef show will begin at 2:30 and continue until 8 p.m.

Swine check-in and weigh-in will be held Friday, from 8:30 to 10 p.m.

The swine show will begin at 9 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 1.

The fair wraps up on Sunday, Aug. 2, with an awards ceremony and public fashion revue, at 12:30 p.m.

A time for round-robin competition will be determined.

Post-fair cleanup is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 4, at 6:30 p.m.
