A former Holt County resident was sentenced to three three-year prison terms for felony convictions and three one-year terms for misdemeanor convictions, all committed in Holt County, beginning more than three years ago.

Jeff A. Dolberg, 45, was sentenced by the Honorable Karin Noakes on Monday, June 29, in Holt County district court.

Noakes began presiding over the case after the Honorable Mark Kozisek recused himself, pursuant to a motion filed on Dolberg’s behalf by his attorney, Rodney Smith of O’Neill. The motion to disqualify cited Kozisek had previously presided over a civil case involving the defendant and the victim.

Noakes sentenced Dolberg to serve three years in an institution under jurisdiction of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services on Count VI, terroristic threats; three years on Count X, strangulation; three years on Count XI, first-degree false imprisonment, in addition to 18 months post-release supervision under jurisdiction of the Nebraska Office of Probation Administration on each of the three felonies; and one year incarceration under the jurisdiction of NDOCS on each Count IX, domestic assault, cause injury to intimate partner, Count XII, false reporting, and Count XIII, violation of domestic abuse protection order.

The sentences are ordered to be served concurrently, with no credit for time previously served. Post-release supervision terms include an order for no contact, direct or indirect with Jackie Dolberg, unless initiating telephone contact with his children. He was also taxed $149 costs of prosecution, along with a $30 probation enrollment fee, payable within 30 days of release from prison, monthly programing fees of $25 and chemical testing costs of $5 each of the 18 months of post-release supervision.

Dolberg was remanded to the custody of the Holt County sheriff for transportation to the NDOCS.

Holt County attorney Brent Kelly filed 13 counts against Dolberg on Nov. 2, 2018, for crimes alleged between May 2017 and August 2018 in Atkinson, where he and his wife resided at the time.

Charges filed included: third-degree assault, May 6, 2017; terroristic threats and domestic assault, Aug. 21, 2017; domestic assault, strangulation and terroristic threats, Nov. 17, 2017; domestic assault March 7, 2018; strangulation July 13, 2018; domestic assault, strangulation and first-degree false imprisonment, Aug. 7, 2018; and false reporting and violation of domestic abuse protection order, Aug. 31, 2018.

Pursuant to a plea agreement, Dolberg changed his not guilty pleas to no contest on six counts. In return Kelly dismissed the remaining seven counts.
