Finding Easter eggs might be a little difficult for youngsters this year. While brightly-colored eggs may pop against a blanket of white snow predicted to hit the area tomorrow, high winds could cause poor visibility.

The National Weather Service in North Platte has issued a winter storm warning for 10 counties, including Holt and Wheeler counties, effective 1 a.m., through 10 p.m., Sunday, April, 12.

According to the NWS, heavy snow with accumulations of three to eight inches is expected, with heavier amounts along and north of Highway 20.

Wind gusts up to 45 miles per hour are expected.

National Weather Service - Omaha

The Valley office of NWS issued a similar warning for eight counties, including Antelope, Knox, Boone and Madison counties. This warning goes into effect at 4 a.m., Sunday, and remains in effect until 1 a.m., Monday, April 13.

Omaha's NWS meteorologists are predicting snow accumulations of three to nine inches, with wind gusts as high as 50 miles per hour.

In both instances, dangerous road conditions are expected. Blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.

"The strong winds could damage trees and tent facilities. Power outages are possible." NWS reports.

If individuals must travel, pack an extra flashlight, food and water in the vehicle, in case of an emergency.
