A Chambers man was sentenced by the Honorable Mark Kozisek last week in the Holt County district courtroom.

Harold A. Rockford, 61, was handed a 30-day jail sentence, with credit for six days previously served, on a count of resisting arrest. He was also taxed $147 costs of prosecution.

Rockford pleaded guilty to the Class 1 misdemeanor Jan. 13, after reaching a plea agreement with Knox County prosecutor Brent Kelly. In return, Kelly dropped a Class 3A felony count of assaulting an officer and a trespassing charge in another county court case, along with agreeing to make no sentence recommendation.

Rockford allegedly assaulted an officer who was serving an arrest warrant in the other case June 12. The officer reported injuries and damage to his uniform, according to court documents.

Randy J. Aime of O’Neill was also sent to the county jail. He was sentenced to 30 days for a Class 1 misdemeanor count of domestic assault and assessed $147 costs. Aime pleaded guilty Dec. 16, 2019, pursuant to a plea deal reached with Kelly. In return, Kelly dropped a Class 3A count of terroristic threats and agreed to make no sentence recommendation.

O’Neill police were called to a verbal disturbance at Aime’s residence Oct. 5, 2019. A subsequent investigation found Aime’s wife had been assaulted and she reported he threatened to kill her and another individual if she contacted police. A Wisconsin warrant for Aime’s arrest for a parole violation was also served. The officer reported the defendant was uncooperative during booking and refused to sign paperwork. In addition, it was alleged he threatened violence if he was placed in a cell with other inmates.

Both defendants were represented by Holt County public defender Rodney Smith of O’Neill.
